Here it is, we know you’ve been waiting for it! It’s our first profile of a Schoodie fan! Viranda Tantula is the next big entertainment business manager in Los Angeles. We caught up with the stylish business mogul recently and talked about him, his business, and of course, Schoodie.
Name
Viranda Tantula (some folks call me V)
Where are you from? Where do you live?
I grew up on the East Coast, in the metropolitan DC area. I’ve been living in good ol’ L.A. for the last 12 years (I’ve heard this officially makes me an Angeleno?)
Profession:
Jack-of-all-Trades: Professional Butterer, and Co-Founder of FoundTrack Creative.
FoundTrack is a two-tiered consultancy that 1) develops and manages emerging creative talent (everyone from photographers to DJs to performance artists) and 2) provides creative marketing services to some really rad brands (depending on the client’s needs this could range anywhere from producing a video campaign to planning a full-scale event series). We’re really blessed to be able to work with and collaborate with a wide variety of forward-thinking partners and clients like The Standard Hotel, Cole Haan, Conde Nast, Puma, Thrillist, and Milagro Tequila.
Our hope and goal is that our company will evolve into a hybrid of like, the Warhol Factory, and what DreamWorks initially intended to be. Actually, you know what? I kind of hate to refer to FoundTrack as a company, since we think of it as more of a family. We even call our clients “flients” = client + friend.
How would you explain your style?
I’m tempted to give one of those wacky answers you’d see in a street fashion column like “Robocop meets James Bond and Bruce Wayne on Casual Friday,” but I’ll just keep it simple: I think style should reflect who you are in a manner that’s at least somewhat functional. When it comes to styling one’s self, I’d say you can get pretty far by just making sure your clothes fit you well.
What are you currently wearing?
- Black Schoodie with the narrow scarf and thick hood
- Leather jacket I recently bought to replace my favorite, go-to black leather jacket from Zara that mysteriously and sadly disappeared recently.
- Persol Steve Mcqueen shades
- Some crazy Aloha Rag collaboration shoes from the folks at Converse
- And last but not least a prototype of this jewelry line my colleague Brian Brown and I are designing which repurpose vintage timepieces into pendants
What’s your favorite way to wear your Schoodie?
Definitely hood up… I mean, what’s the point of having a hood on something if you’re not going wear it, right? Plus it lets me live out my childhood Jedi/Batman fantasy. It’s kind of sad that social archetypes (and the Unabomber) have made it pretty suspect to wear a hood in public… I think the Schoodie will change that.
When did you last wear your Schoodie?
Although some might say I have an avant-garde style, I’m actually going to give you a pretty practical situation. It came in really handy a little bit ago. I was headed to New York for a Fashion Week gig with our performance art group, The Bumbys, and heard it was super hot out there so I didn’t pack a jacket. Anyway, I’ve clearly been in LA too long and forgot about that “rain” thing that happens everywhere else. It ended up not being a problem because I had my Schoodie handy. I just threw it over my shirt and BOOM, good to go!
